Join the WMG Book Club on March 31 as we deliciously dive into Mango and Peppercorns: A Memoir of Food, an Unlikely Family, and the American Dream, a culinary memoir (with recipes) and story of resilience, friendship, family, and food from the acclaimed chefs behind the award-winning Hy Vong Vietnamese restaurant in Miami. We will be joined for this event by the book’s collaborator (and WMG member) Elisa Ung and Lyn Nguyen, one of the book’s authors three authors.
Mango and Peppercorns is uniquely told from the perspective of three women - a Vietnamese refugee, her American hostess, and the refugee's daughter (Lyn Nguyen), who was conceived in a refugee camp and went on to become the CEO of an AI firm.
No quizzes just fun conversation! All WMG members are invited to attend to connect and converse with other book lovers.
Elisa Ung is an award-winning writer, editor, book collaborator, and ghostwriter with more than two decades of professional storytelling experience. She was previously a food critic and columnist at The (Bergen) Record and Northjersey.com, and a news reporter for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Lyn Nguyen, the daughter of Vietnamese refugee and acclaimed chef Tung Nguyen, earned degrees from Harvard and Cornell, and is the CEO and cofounder of Liquid Analytics, an artificial intelligence innovation firm.
WMG board member Kelly Hoey is a networking expert and author of Author of “Build Your Dream Network: Forging Powerful Relationships In A Hyper-Connected World” (Tarcher Perigee).
